In his latest statement Gazprom spokesman Siergej Kuprianov informed the Western media that gas supplies to Ukraine have been restored. The telephone conversation between the Chief Executive of Gazprom Alieksiej Miller and the Chief Executive of Naftogas Olieg Dubin was regarded to be a turning point. Ukraine and Russia have reached an agreement about the price of gas. Moreover, Ukraine has agreed to pay for gas supplies for January and February this year. “There are other important issues to be resolved,” said Kuprianov, so the talks need to be continued. From Monday Gazprom reduced gas supplies to Ukraine by almost 35%, as a result Western media were concerned that gas supplies to Europe might be affected.
