Lech Wałęsa: I feel great

Lech Wałęsa is not going to take it easy. Two weeks ago, in a Houston clinic, he had heart pacemaker fitted. “Now I plan to work very hard. I am full of strength and energy and I want to make use of it. Privately, I’ll get back to loving my wife,” laughs the former president. Two weeks have not yet passed since his operation in Houston, but the former president has already returned to his office in Gdańsk. He greeted his associates cordially, reports Fakt. He was given clippings about his operation from the Polish newspapers. “I feel really great, better than ever before,” says the former president to Fakt. “I want to speed up now. I will work twice as hard,” declared Wałęsa. Let us hope this will not influence the former president’s health. The medical recommendations are clear: he has to take medicine regularly, save his efforts and cannot hold up his left arm for the next two months. After that time, the pain should pass, and the arm will recover, we read in Fakt. In three months, Lech Wałęsa is going to visit the Houston clinic for a medical check-up. “Some people did not like the fact that I chose an American clinic. But in Poland my treatment kept being postponed, and when doctors in Houston saw the results of my examinations, they suggested I have an operation immediately,” says Wałęsa to Fakt. “In Houston they conduct more of these kinds of treatments per day than in Poland per year. By choosing that clinic, I did not take anybody else’s place in Poland. Moreover, my treatment was financed by the American tax-payer,” says the former president smiling.
