Kaczyński Sticks with Kamiński

As Dziennik has learnt, Lech Kaczyński did not accept Michał Kamiński’s resignation as secretary of state in the Chancellery of the President. Kamiński is said to have taken such a decision after the President commissioned Jacek Kurski to prepare his latest presidential address. Several Law and Justice (PiS) politicians have confirmed this piece of news. The presidential address has become a bone of contention between the two PiS spin doctors Michał Kamiński and Adam Bielan and their competitor Jacek Kurski. In the party the presidential decision was understood as imposing limits on the spin doctors. According to initial polls, almost half of viewers, to Kamiński’s and Bielan’s disadvantage, liked the address prepared by Kurski. However, international opinion, especially due to the anti-German aspects, poorly received in Germany, has reversed this situation. “The President was enraged because he did not know about the use of pictures of Angela Merkel with Erika Steinbach in his address. Especially considering his good relations with the chancellor,” according to an anonymous PiS politician. Kaczyński has thus resigned from Kurski’s help with Kamiński now in favour. “Michał Kamiński handed in his resignation with tears in his eyes but the President rejected it. Since then Kamiński’s status in the Presidential Palace has gone up,” says another informant. An important PiS politician believes, “it was an emotional act of no great importance. The address was not that bad and Kamiński and Bielan are not reliable after the lost election. The President still may use Kurski’s help”. Kaczyński was also to appoint Kamiński to plan a makeover campaign which was supposed to consist in frequent presidential meetings with voters. “The idea is good. However, Kamiński has been talking about it for months but nothing has happened,” according to one of his critics.
