Pitchside with Donald Tusk

The 1st team consists of the most prominent figures of the present Polish government: Donald Tusk (an attacker), Grzegorz Schetyna (a halfback), Sławomir Nowak (a halfback), Tomasz Arabski (a defender). When Parliament is in session other Civic Platform (PO) MPs also join in. Sometimes they are joined by the chairman of Pekao SA Jan Krzysztof Bielecki, a friend of Tusk who is regarded as the main HR officer in the cabinet. They hit an open-air football pitch twice a week, every Tuesday and Thursday at 8 p.m. sharp regardless of the weather, cancelling a match only in case of matters of the utmost importance. As there are no changing rooms on the pitch they get out of their government limousines already dressed in tracksuits. There are no set outfits, nonetheless navy blue trousers and red shorts with Sejm RP on the back are usually worn. Nobody yet knows whether, or for what reason, this government will go down in history. But what we do know is the fact that this government has the best football team ever.
