Police have caught a gang making illegal vodka. Police from Lesser Poland caught the gang who was engaged in the illegal production and sale of bootleg liquor. The nine people, who made vodka out of paint thinner, were all detained. The alcohol was mixed with rainwater and puddles, in which frogs had been swimming. According to a Lesser Poland Police spokesperson, this dirty business had been running for almost a year in a few small factories. It is estimated, that since September 2007 several thousand bottles of bootleg alcohol had been produced. It was a large-scale undertaking. The contaminated alcohol was found in various regions of Poland. The production took place in disused barracks with no regard to hygiene, health and safety. It was produced using rusted, amateurishly-made equipment. To produce the alcohol, the offenders used paint thinner mixed with dirty water. According to police officers, preliminary custody will be applied to all the offenders.
