TOPtrendy Tackiness

The TOPtrendy festival held in Sopot proved that Polish celebrities fall into two categories. The first group are those who occupy the front pages of the tabloids and change their image to match that of TV programmes such as “Jak oni śpiewają” wearing odd-coloured, much-revealing outfits. The second group consists of artists who put their music before fame. They usually wear dark, dull clothes and do everything to remain unnoticed on stage.

Doda Rabczewska declared on many occassions that her outfits are supposed to give the audience a buzz so this time she decided to show off her buttocks. While receiving an award she said that the majority of people are probably wondering if she could wear something shorter. The next performer Edyta Górniak proved she still has the best voice in Poland. Yet her former diva style is ancient history. On the first day of the festival she wore an all-turquoise outfit, on the second it was even worse. She was dressed as a gipsy who looked remarkably similar to Maryla Rodowicz, who also performed at Sopot. Among the artists who were chosen as the audience favourites were singers who concentrate on their music rather than pander to poor tastes. The audience were mesmerized during the concerts of Kasia Nosowska and Anna Maria Jopek although their images left much to be desired. Grey trousers and dark shoes made both artists seemingly invisible on the stage.
