After beating Zagłębie Lubin 2:0, Lech Poznań sealed their sixth Polish championship. ‘Kolejorz’ (The Railwaymen) regained the Polish ‘Ekstraklasa’ (Premiership) for the first time in seventeen years. The celebrations started after the final whistle. The team cracked open the champagne and were driven in an open-top bus to Poznań’s Old Town where the celebrations continued. The last time Lech Poznań’s fans had the opportunity to celebrate their team’s success was in 2004 when Lech won the Polish Cup. On Sunday, the team will travel to the capital to receive their winners’ medals.

    Congrats to the Kolejorz.
Never supported a top team in Poland (my Stomil died a long time a go), but always kind of liked Lech. Too bad some of their best players will leave.

I’m really happy for them. I used to follow Widzew but I’m also a secret Lech follower when in Poland although my first love is Derby County – my hometown club. :-)

Derby? You poor bastard. You still having nightmares about those 11 points? God, Pompey were docked 9 and still had 8 more than you lot.
And glory glory Man United!!! :)

No, if you read any of my silly rants you would know I am now a New Yorker :P

And no jokes about United fans not being mancs. Manchester is more red than blue. Being an oldish fart I started following in the early 80′s. Mainly cause of the history, Robson and the 83 FA Cup. Robbo was my favourite player at the time. Though soon after I moved to the states and it was a football void, only some news, some foreign language tv highlights, some video tapes. But it got much better here in the 90′s, and now we get more games than in England.

    Hmm…
    Not from Manchester, eh?
    Hmm… ;-)

    git! :P
I see you bought a couple of players already. How are your prospects of going up and bettering that record?
Clough was turning in his grave then btw. Read a book about him not long back, great manager. One of England’s finest, if not the finest.
WC coming up, its good to be an immigrant, at least I have the US to support. Not that they’ll do anything, but still.

We’ll do great with Nige. I think he’s got a stable head on him. The next few years will be sluggish for Derby: steady growth but nothing spectacular. The young Clough (if they give him time) will build a stable club and within 3-5 years I think we’ll be ready to challenge for the Premier League.
As for the Almighty Brian, I am still in awe of the great man – he actually used to live down the road from me, in Derby. :-)
