Saleta’s breath of life

Former boxer Przemysław Saleta regained consciousness yesterday. For the last few days he has been breathing through a ventilator. “I am happy to have recovered,” said Saleta yesterday. Doctors claim that the patient feels fine and can breathe by his own. The 39-year-old former boxer was taken to the casualty ward of the Baby Jesus Hospital in Warsaw when complications transpired following kidney transplant procedures. He underwent the operation on December 5th when his kidney was removed in order to transplant into his daughter, 13-year-old Nicole, whose current condition is fine and is being looked after in Children Health Clinic. In the last few days Saleta has been in a pharmacologically-enduced coma. According to Ewa Mayzner-Zawadzka, head of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, the complications were caused by “an inflammatory reaction of the blood vessels” due to oxygen deficiency. “Mr Saleta should fully recover within the next few days, although he may suffer from mood swings for a couple of days.”
