Before Ipswich-based Paul Mason became hugely overweight, he worked as a postman. For many years he could not control his weight and became the world’s fattest man losing the ability to move and being confined to an electric wheelchair. His addiction to food completely took over his life. He even mortgaged his house to get money for his favourite foods. Paul began to binge when his wife left him. Sometimes he ate up to 20,000 calories a day and at his ‘worst’ point weighed a staggering 444 kg. Eventually, he decided to start fighting his addiction by having surgery to reduce his stomach. The incredible story of the world’s fattest man has been recorded and will soon be relayed to a Polish television audience.
