The Museum of Bedtime Cartoons in Rzeszow is organising a special event to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the children’s cult classicBolek and Lolek“. Both children and adults will be able to watch the cartoon feature film “Bolek and Lolek’s Great Journey” and read about the adventures of the two characters. Art classes, during which youngsters can draw a map of where Bolek and Lolek have had their adventures, will be an additional attraction. “Bolek and Lolek” was created in the Animated Film Studio in Bielsko-Biala in 1963. The director of the studio at the time was Władysław Nehrebecki and the characters were based on Nehrebecki’s sons, but the names were changed in homage to the pre-war 1936 film “Bolek and Lolek”, directed by Michał Waszyński. Both boys were portrayed by the famous Polish actor Adolf Dymsza. The first episode of the animated series about the brothers Bolek and Lolek was called “Crossbow”. Over the next 23 years, and across ten seasons, until 1986, more than 150 episodes were made as well as two feature films: “Bolek and Lolek’s Great Journey” in 1977 and “Bolek and Lolek in the Wild West” in 1986.
