The Polish company Solaris from Bolechowo near Poznań will deliver 175 buses and 125 trolleybuses to Riga. This is yet another tender that has been won by the Polish bus manufacturer in Riga. Solaris will manufacture the 175 buses independently but the 125 trolleybuses will be made in cooperation with Czech Skoda Electric. The contract assumes the possibility of manufacturing an additional 30 percent. The contract is planned for the period 2014-2018 and it covers the supply of 115 articulated vehicles and 60 Solaris 12-metre buses, which meet the most strict Euro 6 emission standards. This norm will take effect from January 2014. “We are proud of the two contracts and we thank our Latvian partner Rigas Satiksme for its confidence in us. We have been providing vehicles for them since 2001.We are pleased to continue this partnership,” said Martin Gruber, a board member of Solaris Bus & Coach, responsible for sales, service, marketing and quality assurance. “This long term cooperation is confirmation of the quality and reliability of our buses and trolleybuses,” he added. Solaris has already supplied 253 vehicles to Latvia of which 223 are in Riga. Latvian Solaris buses can also be found in Daugavpils.
