World Cup winner Thomas Morgernstern thanked his Polish fans on his Facebook profile recently. Polish fans showed their support for the Austrian ski jumper after his accident on the large ski slope in Kulm. Not only did Polish fans have the names of their cities and favourite ski jumpers on their flags but also lots of words of support for Thomas Morgernstern. The ski jumping event organisers also encouraged the crowd to sing for Morgernstern, a moving tribute which visibly touched Morgernstern. He reacted on Facebook immediately posting a photo from his bed showing his feet in front of the television with the Polish fans singing and waving flags. “Great thanks for this incredible song for my Polish fans,” he wrote in German and English, adding a #goosebumps hash tag beside it. As many as 14,000 followers liked the post. Will Morgernstern go to the Olympics after his accident? On 10 January, in Titisee-Neustadt, Morgernstern lost control during his jump and hit the ground during the second jump of the day. The accident looked serious, but according to doctors there is no threat of any serious complications. “Morgernstern in Sochi? It could be possible,” said Austrian team coach Alexander Pointner. Poland’s ski jumpers also showed their support for Thomas. “Morgi, alles gute,” shouted the Polish ski jumpers while putting on their skis.
