Warsaw Residents Decide

Warsaw City Hall has extended the date by which proposals for the Warsaw participatory budget can be submitted, until 10 March. City Hall officials have summarised information on the proposals that have been submitted so far. There were 777 put forward by citizens as of 20 January. All relate to ideas for the improvement of life in the city, from barbecues in the open air, the improvement of football pitches, street lights, bus shelters, urban surveillance cameras, cycling routes to walking areas for dogs. In June of this year, there will be a vote and the ideas which gain the largest number of votes from Warsaw residents will be included in next year’s city budget. PLN 26 million has been put aside for the implementation of these ideas. Up until now, most proposals have come from Mokotów district, 126 in all. In comparison, there have been 23 proposals from Bielany district and 29 proposals from Bemowo district. So far, there have been no proposals from Wesoła district.
