Polish Ecumenism Returning

Only One God

Only One God

After a break that lasted over twenty years, ecumenical church services, celebrated on the first Monday of every month, are returning to the Evangelical Reformed Church at 76 Aleja Solidarności in Warsaw. The Interfaith Organising Committee, composed of Protestants and Catholics, has announced that the next mass will be celebrated by priest Zdzisław Tranda, an eminent ecumenist and senior bishop of the Evangelical Reformed Church. It starts at 6 pm. Between the years 1981 and 1992, thanks to the initiative of Catholic journalist, editor Jan Turnau, ecumenical services were celebrated on the first Monday of every month at the same Evangelical Reformed Church. The faithful prayed for churches in various parts of the world. In 1992 services were moved to the Lutheran Church of the Ascension on Puławska Street. The services will begin again in March and will take place alternately in the Evangelical-Augsburg Church of the Ascension, the Evangelical Reformed Church and the Evangelical-Augsburg Church of the Holy Trinity.
