Saving State of Mind

Save to Accumulate

Saving money depends not only on what we have in our wallet, but also on the habits we learn at home, discipline, and economic awareness. “More than 50% of Polish people do not save money as they prefer to spend their whole salary on daily needs,” according to the results of a study conducted by the Kronenberg Foundation on behalf of Citi Handlowy Bank. Whether somebody saves or not obviously depends on if they have money to spare. However, various (psychological) factors are also important. The more we save, the easier it is to get loans. In January, Polish households made over PLN 6bn in interest on savings, however, there has also been a visible upturn in consumer borrowing. Initial data, published by the National Bank of Poland (NBP), shows that in January the financial resources of average Polish households decreased, a drop of 1.6% compared to December 2013.
