Time to Pay

According to Gazeta Wyborcza, Poland’s Ministry of Finance has calculated how much deviation from regular taxation actually costs the nation. In other words, what is the value of tax relief, rebates, lower tax rates, and other preferential treatment with regards tax. It appears that in 2012 (because that is when the research was undertaken last), tax breaks amounted to PLN 81.6 million, so approximately 5.1% of Poland’s GDP. If the government were to do away with these tax breaks, there would be no difficulty in having enough money to cover the shortage in the public finance sector.
