UPC Polska is once again in the news for the wrong reasons. This time it has lowered some customers’ home WiFi network speeds without informing them. “Some customers” might even mean hundreds of thousands of users. Michael Fura, UPC spokesman, admits that the operator is struggling due to technical problems which may cause instability in home WiFi networks. However, he adds that the scale of the problem is small. “We have observed individual cases of instability of some NIC drivers. We have already reported the case to the manufacturer, who is working on a solution,” says Fura. The problem applies to customers who have a WiFi network with a speed of 60 Mb/s. At present, they can only dream of that speed. Their WiFi connection is currently around twenty times slower and unstable.
