Give Blood

Blood is the most valuable ‘medicine’ which cannot be produced or manufactured. It saves millions of lives all over the world. In Poland there are approximately two million blood transfusions carried out every year. There are about 500,000 blood donors and what is interesting, most of them are men. The greatest problem is in the summer as most blood donors go on holiday. This year in particular there is a high demand for blood, especially Rh negative. Doctor Joanna Wojewoda from the Regional Center of Blood Donation and Blood Therapy in Warsaw is calling for more blood donors to come forward and hopes that the FIFA World Cup will not be an obstacle to visiting the center. You can become a blood donors if you are a healthy person between the ages of 18 and 65 and if you weigh at least 50 kilograms and have no tattoos. A full donation of blood amounts to 450ml. Men can donate blood six times a year, women four times a year. All is needed is your ID card in order to offer someone the gift of life.
