A select group of Polish designers are shaping the automotive industry, with their influence extending far beyond Europe. The native Polish automotive industry is limited to the manufacture of foreign cars and because Poland lacks a domestic manufacturer, Polish specialists work for big corporations abroad. The best known Poles in the industry are designers, working with the most famous brands in the world. Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Ford, and even Tata owe much of their look and style to Polish designers. There are many recognised Polish designers out there. Tomasz Jara has been in the industry for over thirty years. Another is Justyn Norek, who has been designing popular Italian cars for many years, and is now head designer at Tata. Younger designers, like Kamil Łabanowicz, who has worked with Audi, have also been successful. What is significant is that many Poles hold influential positions in the industry. Jacek Fröhlich, for example, is responsible for the look of the BMW 5, 6, and 7 series, and the X SUVs. Another is Tadeusz Jelec, one of Jaguar‘s most valued designers.
