Leather Fish

Polish manufacturers of leather and fish products will soon be able to sell their merchandise on the Chinese market. Trade has become possible through an agreement between the Polish and Chinese veterinary authorities. The Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MRiRW) says that talks on potential cooperation lasted several years. During the visit of Poland’s Chief Veterinary Officer Marek Pirsztuk in Beijing a few days ago, Polish-Chinese protocol was established. It sets out the veterinary requirements for cattle, sheep, and goat leather export from Poland to China. The document was initialed by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine of China (AQSIQ) and the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MRiRW). The Deputy Chief of General Veterinary Inspectorate Aleksandra Porada explained to the Polish Press Agency (PAP) that from a formal point of view, there are no legal obstacles to the export of leather now, but trade dealings must still be arranged by the companies themselves. She also added that talks to solve this issue commenced in 2010. She explained that the inspectorate takes action to open up a particular market only when there are companies interested in trade. In the case of the leather market, there were two companies involved, while in the case of the export of fish products, there were several involved.
