Japanese investors are eager to choose Poland as a place to conduct business, but what is it that attracts them to the country? According to the latest KPMG report, Japanese business people value Polish personnel, low labour costs, and the stable economic environment of Poland. Among the barriers most often listed were complex labour laws and excessive bureaucracy. According to the KPMG report, titled “Poland’s Position as a Business Partner for Japan”, Japanese investments in Poland increased ninefold during the 2000–2012 period and reached a total close to $1.4bn. For years, Poland has remained one of the most sought after locations in Europe for Japanese manufacturing companies. During the 2005–2010 period, the number of business entities in Western Europe with Japanese capital did not change, nor did it decrease. In Poland, however, the number increased by 48% thus giving Poland fifth place in Europe.
