Emigration still Growing

Still on the Move

Still on the Move

The number of Poles willing to leave Poland is constantly growing. Almost 7% of citizens are considering economic emigration, that is 250,000 more people than last year. The majority are young people under 35, most often men with only a high-school education or lower. Polish people still most often choose Great Britain as their preferred work destination, but recently Norway has become increasingly popular. Scandinavian countries are attractive because of their high social standards and salaries, but some scare off emigrants with their anti-emigration solutions. On the other hand, the people who want to stay in Poland claim they do not want to leave because of homesickness (74%). Also, insufficient knowledge of languages (28%) and no money for moving house (15%) discourage them from making such a decision. However, with almost 2 million Poles abroad, more than 50% declare their willingness to stay in Poland and contribute to the economic development of Poland.
