Drivers in Wrocław, watch out! By the end of the year, municipal police forces in Poland will attempt to squeeze PLN 3 million out of drivers for speeding. This amounts to PLN 1 million more than budget estimates. Councillors will vote on a regulation that envisages an increase in income from speed cameras. The city guard in Wrocław are working so efficiently that by March 2015 alone they handed out 6,000 speeding tickets, for a record amount of PLN 932,000. Officials have calculated that at that pace, the municipal police will make up to PLN 3 million. However, all is not lost. The municipal police has vowed not to excessively pester drivers. “We will work the same way as we always did,” sys Sławomir Chełchowski from Wrocław municipal police. “Only drivers who break the rules are fined. However, the fines are non-negotiable.”
