Invest in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is encouraging Polish entrepreneurs to conduct business in Hong Kong especially in the food industry and in jewellery. The Hong Kong authorities wants to draw the attention of Polish business people by ensuring that investments fall to Hong Kong rather than markets in China and other Asian countries. This is a great chance for Polish companies from the food sector and manufacturers of luxury goods like amber jewellery to expand into new markets. According to Simon Galpin, CEO of Invest Hong Kong, investors have to explain to Polish companies the benefits of operating in Hong Kong, especially if they want to conduct business in China. First of all, Hong Kong is a low risk location and what is more, it provides great opportunities. There is great potential to increase the number of investments and encourage a greater number of entrepreneurs to start businesses in the city. However, Polish investments in Hong Kong have a minimum share. According to data from the Central Statistical Office for 2012, the total receivables of Polish direct investments were only PLN 77m. Invest Hong Kong wants to change that by providing Polish entrepreneurs with advice, support, and also by promoting the city. Galpin claims that the possibilities are enormous. Hong Kong also provides easy entry into the Asian market. As pointed out by Galpin, the procedures and law in Hong Kong are extremely business-friendly, and it is possible for a company to be registered within one hour with a capital of just 1 Hong Kong dollar. Taxes are also low and many consumers, mainly from China, are coming to Hong Kong to shop at duty-free shops.
