The sexual abuse of women is still the most common form of human trafficking as far as Poland is concerned, according to Polish National Police data from 2014. According to the study, Poland is the destination country for victims of human trafficking from Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, Belarus, Moldova, Lithuania, Russia, Vietnam, China, Bangladesh and Thailand. On the other hand, Polish women end up in Great Britain, Ireland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden, Finland, Norway, France, and even Japan. Poland is also a transit country for victims of human trafficking from Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Russia, Nigeria and India, after which the victims are transferred from Poland to countries in Western Europe. This type of crime is the third most profitable, after the arms trade and drugs. Profits are estimated at about $32 billion every year with only risk of being caught. In 2014 the amount of women prostituting on Poland’s roads increased with most gangs recruit women from Bulgaria. On the other hand, Polish and Ukrainian women are sexually abused in so-called escort agencies or in flats rented for the purpose of provided a place in which to provide prostitution services.
