Businessmen from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) plan to invest billions of dollars in Poland. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, emir of Dubai recently visited Poland, but that does not mean that entrepreneurs who wish to co-operate with the UAE can now sit back. Małgorzata Panek- Kasińska, CEO of MK Business Link, a consulting firm working with businessmen from the Middle East, says “Mohamed Alabbar, top advisor to the emir of Dubai and owner of developer company Emmar Properties, has clearly declared his interest in Poland. He said that his people are ready to realise the world’s largest investment here in Poland. It is just up to us to make use of that opportunity, because we have to come up with something spectacular.” Emmar built Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. They wish to invest in at least 20 hectares in the heart of a Polish city, where they would build apartment houses, hotels and roads. Emmar has had Poland on its radar for a year now, but the company did not find anything interesting. Professor Adam Krzymkowski, the Polish Ambassador in Abu Dhabi, says, “During Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum’s visit to Poland, UAE business representatives received offers from Kraków, Łódź, Gdańsk, Sopot, Poznań and Warsaw. They are most interested in Warsaw.”
