Invest in Warsaw or Łódź?

Polish Salaries

Polish Salaries

Both housing prices and wages vary significantly in different parts of Poland. For example, one square metre of real estate costs an average of PLN 7,396 in Warsaw, whereas only PLN 4,578 in Łódź. At the same time, however, salaries are much higher in Warsaw than in other regions. The average Warsaw salary amounts to PLN 3,794 net, while in Łódź it is PLN 2,771, according to Expander Advisors. “It is difficult to say where it is easiest to buy property. We compared average salaries in particular cities and the number of salaries needed to buy a medium-sized apartment (50 sq. metres). Of the five cities selected by us, Łódź stands out. Only sixty average Łódź salaries are needed to buy an apartment in Łódź. However, in most cities you need more than ninety salaries. This phenomenon can be explained by the fact that Łódź is a rapidly ageing city and is facing depopulation,” explains Jaroslaw Sadowski, Principal Analyst at Expander Advisors.
